Driving on M4 Car came to a slow , stop , the engine would only rev to 1500 rpm ,but the car would only go about 10mph .

AA put their computer on came up with code po106 intake manifold pressure outside specified limits

I am getting white smoke , after about 10 minutes of running the engine .wont rev over 1500 rpm , even when throttle pedal , is floored to the end.

Have been told maybe map sensor

or maf sensor , which has been replace a few months ago , put a second maf sensor . made no difference

any advice help

As you have found out,you can't fix cars on codes alone.Take it to a diesel specialist.

Hi your po code P0106 is: map (manifold absolute pressure) sensor/barometric pressure sensor range/performance possible causes are map sensor, wiring problem to the sensor possibly maf sensor unlikely since you have had 2 thoe, intake leak split turbo hose turbo actuator faulty etc etc there are a few possibilities do you have a multimeter or anything along thoes lines? If so I can help you test as much of it as we can.

Yes have a volt meter

OK first you want to find the map sensor it will be located directly on the inlet manifold and should have 3 wires on it if it's the seimens common rail engine: blue, white/brown and blue/green. Disconnect the plug for the map sensor. Set your multimeter to volts dc and connect the black lead to battery negative and the red to pin 1 (blue wire) plug side not map sensor side. Turn ignition on you should read 5v if you don't you have found a problem and message me back if you do have 5v then plug the map back up with ignition still on and connect red lead to pin 2 (white/brown) you should have less then 0.2v ? If more message me if it's under than ignore it. Finally do you have a scan tool that reads live data?

hi the map sensor , has 3 wires , from order as follows

1.blue/white 2.white 3.blue

took pug off read voltage 4.8 v on the blue wire

put plug/sensor back on , could only take reading from the back of the electrical connector pin 2 .white cable no reading obtained , gave no reading

i dont have a live scanna tried obd2 scanners does not pick any fault codes .

will try and borrow one , what do i need to look for

when the AA put their computer on it gave the above reading po106

Obviously i was looking at the wrong wireing diagram then. Really you want a scanner that can read live data that's the best way to look at what's going on. For the time being connect the map sensor and back probe the plug you already know you have a 5v signal the other 2 wires will be an earth and the signal wire to the ecu. Connect earth to ground and one of the 2 remaining wires when you start and rev the engine one of them will increase in voltage let me know what the highest reading you get is off the signal wire the remaining wire is obviously the earth. By the way is it a variable vain turbo? It could be a problem with the actuator sticking common problem.

i have done what u asked , the hiesht voltage . 1.14 v

when at idle high voltage , <1.14> when i put the accelerter down the voltage starts to come down ,

also when i stop the engine a sounds comes , as though some thing opens and closes , a few time s sounds like flap open and closes

i belive it may be the variable turbo , how would i know

Also weir is the actuator , how would i loosen it , in case it is sticking

I am trying ti get hold of scanner may take 4 days or so to get one

many thanks for helping

I would expect a higher voltage but if it's a digital signal that works off of hz then it might just be because of the duty cycle. Anyway the scanner should help you confirm this the actuator is bolted onto the turbo it will have a vacuume line attached to it. On a non variable turbo it would have controlled the waste gate but it controls the veins on a variable vein turbo. If you don't have a mity vac or vacuume pump you will have to get someone to rev it for you whilst you visually look to see if it moves you should get about an inch of movement from min to max rpm. If you can unbolt the actuator from the turbo. (should only be 2 bolts) the leaver on the turbo should move freely with only light finger pressure if not then it's probably the veins seized but you will have to remove the actuator you won't be able move that with finger pressure.

put a scanner on following readings

PO1O6

PO113

PO101

ALSO when engine runs the , looking at the front of the car , to the right , largest pipe seems to callapse , as though too much sucking

Resoved problem many thanks for advice and help given took turbo air pipe found part of turbo air pipe in the turbo how that happened I dont know ,
