Fiesta 1.4 tdci - weird sensor goings on. - Budgiestongue
Code p0191 frp, my car starts when sensor is frp sensor is unplugged but not when it is plugged in, its in limp with orange cog sign, can someone shed light on this as its getting tiring and i dont get how it starts without the fuel pressure sensor plugged in, could it be a broken sensor as wiring seems ok when tested 5v across, ps this has had new engine in and ive tried my old engine frp sensor on the plug and same engine wont start with it in, is theyre anyway i can test the sensor itself.

Because when the sensor is disconnected the ECM cannot determine fuel rail pressure, and so it uses a fixed substitute value. The sensor may be faulty, or you may have low fuel rail pressure due to a fault with the pressure relief valve, worn pump, excessive injector leak off or fuel supply from the fuel tank. You need to get this properly investigated. A good diesel specialist would be your best option.

Did you change the timing belt ? The reason I ask is

I had a 2008 1.4 tdci fiesta old shape, when I had the timing belt changed, the garage incorrectly lined up the markings on the diesel pump (set them vertically and it should have been at an setting of approx 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock ?)

The only thing this caused is that it wouldn't start, no damage or anything caused, they had to refit the belt, what a pain

Could this of any use ?

Is there anyway to test a frp sensor out of the car before i buy one, ive changed pump top sensor and the bottom valve, no change, is there a way i can test pump itself.

Not without a lot of specialist and expensive test equipment. As I said before, take it to a good diesel specialist. If you want it properly sorted then take it to someone who can sort it properly. Otherwise you're just messing about, and CR diesels can be dangerous to those who don't know what they're doing.

I put new fuel rail sensor on and live data said 1395-1400 psi on ignition and 1405 psi on cranking. Is this high or low,
