Mazda 5 - Mazda 5 Diesel, yes....I know.....help please :( - Jinjur

Hi guys,

Sorry to bother. We have having some issues with wifey's Mazda 5 2.0 D that I thought I had solved but got a call today to say all is not well :(

She was having some intermittent issues where the car would lose so much power.....even sustaining 30 mph was an issue. At idle it seemed like it was almost off 2 cylinders.

This happened a wee while ago and after some internet sleuthery, I had suspected the suction control valve on the diesel pump given the symptoms and duly replaced this with an original Denso part.

However, as mentioned.....this has just happened again today while she was dropping the little ones to school and it's quite obvious that fixing this problem is beyond me.

I had my diagnostics stuff (fairly basic) on the car when it happened previously and the car is throwing no codes at all. There is nothing historic either.

I am suspecting the HP pump but really think I need a Diesel Jesus to confirm this (or otherwise) and help as this car is important to us as the main family steed.

As of now, the problem is no longer intermittent (which would help diagnosing at least) but that could obviously change as it has done in the past.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Andy

If its a common rail engine I doubt that it will be the HP diesel pump, could be the MAF though. If you have to take it anywhere take it to a diesel specialist, they usually know what they are doing.
