Hi guys,
First post so sorry if this is already covered in another thread but I couldn't find it if there is.
I've been looking at a used Jaguar XJ8 3.2 (2000 reg) - the car looks great and feels fantastic. Engine runs well, suspension is sound and log book provides a full service history up until a year or so ago when the gear box went. It since took the owner (a Jaguar mechanic) that time to replace the gearbox with a reconditioned replacement but now it's done he's asked his mate (a Jaguar parts retailer) to sell it on for him.
So everything sounds, looks and feels great (the drive was perfect - smooth and solid all the way).
I've just done an HPI check and it seems to check out all fine:
JAGUAR PETROL AUTO - 5 GEAR 4-DOOR SALOON BLACK
NO OUTSTANDING FINANCE NO COLOUR CHANGES NO IMPORT/EXPORT NO PLATE CHANGES NEVER BEEN SCRAPPED
The only thing that's bugging me is that I was under the impression it was an Executive model. The boot of the car has an EXECUTIVE badge on it BUT the HPI check states that it's a SOVEREIGN model instead.
I don't think it is a Sovereign model - it doesn't have the cup-holders which I think Sovereigns include - so is something dodgy or could it just be a mistake by DVLA or the HPI company?
Looking to exchange car and cash at the weekend so appreciate a quick reply if anyone's got any advice.
Thanks for you help!
