We all hear about problems with the electric handbrakes on VW Passats of the 05 era.

But are there any manufacturers that have managed to produce a system that will work reliably in the British climate ?

BMW have been using them on the 5-series since 2010, when the F10/F11 variants came out, and on the Z4 since 2009. The 3-series has a standard handbrake. No idea about other models.

I've not heard of any problems with those that are electronic - though the word 'yet' should probably be inserted there !
