Ford Mustang Review 2024
Ford Mustang At A Glance
The seventh-generation Mustang is the last hurrah for Ford's iconic sports car. However, with bold styling and a potent 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine, the Mustang isn't going quietly into the night. In fact, boasting more power and better road handling than ever before, it promises to be a fitting swansong to one of the world's most famous muscle cars.
The new Ford Mustang is based on the same mechanical platform as its predecessor. And as before, it's offered as a coupe and convertible with a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine.
Prices for the new Mustang will most likely exceed £50,000 but Ford is promising significant changes that will make its seventh-generation muscle car a worthy rival for the BMW M4 and Audi RS5.
Ford hasn't revealed any power figures for the new Mustang but buyers will get the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox alongside a 10-speed automatic. As with previous versions of the Mustang, both drive the rear wheels.
Drivers can choose from six different modes: Normal, Sport, Slippery, Drag, Track and a fully customisable setting. Ford says the new Mustang will be better to drive, thanks to a quicker steering ratio. The Mustang GT is further enhanced with 19-inch alloy wheels, a sport limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes and optional MagneRide active suspension.
At the top of the range is the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse edition, with improved aerodynamics, tyres, steering and uprated power. The Mustang Dark Horse also gets an auxiliary engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, unique lightweight radiator and more powerful cooling fans. A Torsen limited-slip differential is standard.
Inside, all models get two large digital screens. Behind the new Ford Mustang’s thicker, flat-bottomed steering wheel is a 12.4-inch digital instrument display that is fully configurable/ It’s complemented by a 13.2-inch Sync 4 centre stack with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard. It integrates with the FordPass smartphone app.
