Why are scammers trying to find out whether I've been in an accident?
A few months ago I received a cold call. The caller said he wanted to confirm that a car registered at my address had been involved in a "minor accident". He would not provide details of who he was nor why he wanted to know, and he hung up. In fact we did have a claim in 2008, but that was for replacement locks following theft of keys. It was obviously a scam, but how does it work?

You need to keep parasites like this on the line until you can get some details of who they work for, then report the matter to to the claims regulators: www.www.cueuk.org; www.ico.gov.uk; www.claimsregulation.gov.uk
