Can I claim my NCD if I've taken over two years break from driving?
I was without a car for 25 months, although I drove my wife's car as a named driver and had no claims in that time. Previously, I had 26 years NCD and only Admiral would allow this because they allowed three years break without driving. My renewal is now due and Admiral are not competitive. Although their renewal notice shows me as having 27 years NCD, if I were to switch to a company that only allows a two year break am I alright in claiming 27 years NCD or do I have to advise them of my 25 month break without a car?

Technically if you have not had insurance for two years, you have don't have any no claims because insurers will only take it into consideration up to that amount of time. Be transparent with them and explain the situation, DO NOT try and do this via an online price comparison site, either speak to a direct insurer or go through a broker and speak to them advising what you have here. Some insurers WILL take this into consideration and apply the FULL 6 years no claims.
