Is there a known problem with Volkswagen Passat fuel injectors?

Is it true that there have been a substantial number of Volkswagen Passat fuel injector failures? If so, does this apply to all Volkswagen dealers?

The old PD injectors were quite reliable, but there has been a spate of problems with Piezo injectors that have to be very precise but manufacturing tolerances are not matching up to this. Mercedes-Benz shares the problem.
