Can you recommend an economical estate car to replace my ageing Corolla?
I'm 64 years of age and need a car. My wife has a new Fiat Panda Eco Active so shopping is sorted. My annual mileage has now dropped to around 10,000 with 12-20 visits a year to family down motorways and A-roads. My Corolla has been extremely reliable and is now has over 140,000 miles on the clock. I often use the car to fetch and carry timber and DIY materials and also the 30-mile round tip to the recycling centre with garden waste etc. I suspect I'll probably need an Estate version. My budget is £6000 to £6500 plus whatever the Corolla will fetch. I was thinking of a Focus, preferably an automatic although I could probably live with a manual gearbox.

Not much wrong with a Focus estate, and you might get a three-year-old automatic from one of the Motability auctions at BCA centres.

As good as the hatchback. Great to drive and very refined. Upmarket and comfortable interior. Usefully large boot. The best looking estate this size.
