I have a 2002 4.0L Grand Cherokee. I work offshore and each time I come home my battery is flat. Until now there has been some life in the battery but not enough to turn it over, so I jump-start it off another car and it's fine for daily use. This time, however, I tried connecting a battery booster to the completely dead battery and the car alarm sounded along with the horn. The same happened when I tried jumping it from another car. Without wanting to annoy the neighbours, will the alarm and horn stop sounding if I keep the power connected from either the battery booster or jump car after a short while? The battery is new and I know I have a problem with the battery draining, to be sorted later. I could disconnect the battery each time I go to work but would I have the same problem of the horn and alarm sounding when I try to connect it again when I get home?
