Engine failure on used car - what are my rights?
Five months ago I brought a used Mazda 6 diesel - 2010 model. When I bought the car there was 59,000 miles on the clock and it was in good condition. Two days ago as I was driving home from work when the oil light came on. I checked the oil level the next morning and there was enough oil in the car.
I took the car to my local garage and as I was driving the oil light went off. The garage started the car up and said the engine sounded fine and confirmed that there was enough oil in the car. They suggested I take the car to a Mazda dealer which I did. They was worried that the oil light had been on and was red and suggested that I book the car in for them to look at which I did. They phoned me up to say that the technician has suggested the engine be stripped down to see if there was any damage - I agreed to this.
When they phoned today they said that the sump was blocked and an injector was seized and now I need a new engine. As I brought the car from a dealer and the car is on finance what are my rights?
