Buying a used car - VW Golf or Honda Civic?

I currently have a three-door 2003 Volkswagen Golf 1.9 diesel. It has a manual gearbox and has done around 180,000 miles, on the original clutch, flywheel, turbo etc. I am looking to replace it with a five-door car and my first thoughts are to a Golf and have around £6500 to spend. I don't mind petrol or diesel, I do like a solid interior, and want to keep the car until at least 150k miles.

Do you think any of the engines in the Golf VI can be entrusted to do this without too many faults? Or should I just buy a 2009 Honda Civic instead?

More faults reported on the 2009-2013 Golf than any other car: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/golf-vi-2...d
Go for the Civic 1.8iVTEC.
