Which used car is best - Auris or Civic?

I need to buy a used (up to five years old) family car. I have £6000 to spend and have narrowed my choices to Honda and Toyota. Which car would you recommend from the list below?

Auris 1.33 VVTi petrol 20k miles
Auris 1.6 VVTi petrol 30k miles
Auris 1.4 D4-D diesel 100k miles
Civic 1.4 VTEC petrol 50k miles
Civic 1.8 VTEC petrol 60k miles
Civic 2.2 CTDi diesel 100k miles

I'd go for the Civiv 1.8iVTEC. They are strong engines and will do 45mpg on a run. As well as that the car is very spacious and decent to drive.

Practical and comfortable cabin, huge amounts in interior space, great 2.2 i-CTDi diesel engine, well built and reliable, enjoyable to drive.
Decent combination of ride and handling that might suit some people better than a harder sprung Golf or a Civic. A few inches taller than a Golf of Focus so easier to get in and out.
