Which used hatch should I get for £15k?
I need a used hatchback for up to £15,000 and have narrowed my choice down to the SEAT Leon, Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3. I drive approx 25,000 miles per annum, 75% motorway 25% rural, and want something with power and comfort on the motorway but fun to drive.
The 2.0TDi engine acceleration is noticeably better at higher speeds than the 1.6TDi. Is the automatic performance good or should I stick to manual?
I've read that the 1.4 petrol engines are now quite economical too. With my mileage is it still worth paying more for a diesel? Is there any difference in servicing costs?

All basically the same car, but you need to get the latest versions (2013 on) to be sure of getting the manifold in head EA889 diesel engine. 25,000 miles per year does justify a diesel, but the 1.4ACT 140 or 150 is a lovely engine to drive. Golfs and A3 have a VAG dictated higher level of trim than Leons and Octavias. Things like flock lines glove boxes and more soundproofing.
