What should I look for when buying a Volkswagen Lupo?

I am looking at purchasing a Volkswagen Lupo as an everyday driver. I am looking to spend around £2000 and want the 1.4 Sport model as it will be used on rural roads and dual carriageways, plus I wouldn't mind something slightly fun to drive. Do these cars have any particular problems which I should look for and what should I be wary of?
