What's the best small auto?
My mother would like to buy a replacement for her aged, but much loved, convertible Volkswagen Golf. She would like an automatic with a petrol engine and space for grandchildren in the rear seats.
Her budget is £10,000 and she would be happy to buy used. Would you suggest another Golf or something a little different?

Not a Golf auto because of the DSG transmissions. Maybe a Honda Jazz 1.4iVTEC CVT-7. Good looking and practical with an amazingly spacious and versatile interior, but a bumpy ride and not exciting to drive. Bigger, a Honda Civic 1.8iVTEC 5-speed auto, but these are coveted and hard to find.
