Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost turbo problem
My daughter has recently taken delivery of a new Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost. The car is on a 3 year Personal contract purchase. She has experienced an intermittent problem where she has experienced a loss of power (turbo not working)and car goes into "limp" mode. A warning light appears with a sign indicating "engine needing service" If she stops and leaves the car for about an hour the car returns to normal operation. She has taken the car back to the local ford dealer in Milton Keynes who after inspection has said they cannot find any faults. This loss of power has now happened twice. Please advise what further action can be taken.

Write a letter complaining of the problem and send it by Post Office Special Delivery both to the dealer principal of the dealership where the car was bought and to the PCP finance house (which is probably Ford Credit). That then becomes a matter of record and proves when she first complained of the problem in relation to the date she bought the car. Law about rejecting a car explained here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ Because the problem may be fuel related, the 'self help' to try is to use Shell V-Power Nitro Plus petrol exclusively. Cars are optimised for this fuel for thew ECDC emissions tests and do not run as well on cheap fuels.
