Buying a small hatchback advice
We're after a small hatchback. Fuel economy, reliability and ease of use is the main things I am looking for. Preferable to be an auto but manuals a possibility. Chain cam and petrol please.

The Mazda 3 is very good but the CX-3 is more of a fun choice. The Honda Jazz is about to be replaced by a new model, but spacious, practical and reliable. Golf/A3 1.4 TSI engines now very good, especially the 1.4 TSI ACT 150. DSG best avoided. A-Class okay, but about to get a significant facelift. Add the Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4 Cactus with the 1.2 Puretech 110/130 engine. The 130 gives excellent 230Nm torque and is also very economical. Could also add the new Honda HR-V 1.5 CVT-7 if she wants an automatic.
