Which version of the Golf should I buy?

I am thinking of buying a Volkswagen Golf - but which model? I really like the new Golf GTI and the GTD, but I also like the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 but find these almost as dear as the new model. What is the best out of the three as I am so confused!?

Very uncomfortable seats in the Edition 35 unless you are either very tall, or very small and narrow shouldered. Far better anyway to go for the latest Mk VII model because it has the much better EA288 engine in which all the bugs of the older engine have been ironed out, plus it has proper independent rear suspension. Alternatively, the cheaper but just as good SEAT Leon Cupra 265 or 280.
