Need a family car for £10k - what do you suggest?

I’m looking to buy a used car, either a Ford Focus or Fiesta, which will cope with our growing family. I drive around 200 miles per week to work (60% motorway 40% usual roads), but I just don’t know what size engine to get as it’s not something I really understand.

I want a big enough boot for a pram and shopping. The car must also not be too cramped inside. What do you recommend I buy for £10,500?

Not a lot of boot space in either a Fiesta or a Focus. Same 1.0 100PS and 125PS Ecoboost engines in both, but the Fiesta is smaller and lighter so is more economical.

Your budget actually buys you a brand new Dacia Logan MCV 90TCe (Daily Star Car of the Year) that has more than enough room for a couple of kids and their clobber: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/dacia/logan-mcv-2013/
