What's the best automatic car for £1500?
I have an absolute maximum of £1500 to buy a used car with. I need an auto, but don't have a lot of spare money to spend on maintaining the car. I would like comfort and have been looking at Mercedes-Benz 220 diesels, along with Volvo diesels, Ford Mondeos, SAABs and BMWs. What should I buy?

Any £1,500 car is going to break down so buy the one that is cheapest to fix which, on your list, will be the Ford.
