What's the best car for the elderly?
My elderly parents need a new car. They have £7000 to spend and want a decent car that will do 60mpg. They do mostly short journeys, so only an older diesel without a DPF may work.
Or a newer petrol - But they also do not want a supermini for safety reasons, so petrol may not be possible to achieve 60mpg. They also need it to last and be reliable as they say it will be their 'last car!' Any ideas?

The ideal car would be a Suzuki Splash or Vauxhall Agila, but if that's too small then probably the best way to get 50mpg would be a Toyota Prius. They simply won't get 60mpg in anything doing mostly short runs.
