Overall Reliability
Hi John
I bought this golf under the VW Das Welt Auto scheme in March 2014 at 24k miles. I have only done 4k miles but already have had a new drivers seat and complete air-con system. Fortunately these were covered by the full warranty, otherwise I would be £2500 shy.
My car broke down yesterday and advised it requires a new coil pack. Under the post 6 month warranty conditions, the part is covered, but not the labour charge. I presume this will be £100+.
My fear is, I have bought a problematic car, that will cost me dearly in the short and long term. I bought the Golf as a long term money saving option owing to its 'VW acclaimed reliability' and low depreciation.
My question is, what redress do I have with VW for buying a problematic car and are there any other foreseeable problems with this model?
Thanks in advance for your help.

You bought a myth. I'll add your problems to the long list here, which answers your question: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/golf-vi-2...d You're outside the 6 months dealer liability and faults within the 6 months were fixed, so no redress available.
