Can you fit winter tyres to a sports car?

I drive a Mazda RX-8 with 19-inch wheels. Should I get winter tyres for this car or is this a daft question?

Michelin Alpin AP4s. I've tried them on a 400PS 991 991 rear drive Carrera S and with the ESC engaged the car was uncrashable on a track in the snow.
