I paid £5850 for the Meriva two years ago, and although the accident wasn't my fault I know the insurance company will try and only give me the book price - I don't know what that is at the moment, but do you have any suggestions as to how I can get them to pay the most money out? Obviously I will tell them about the LPG conversion, which would cost about £1500-2000 to have fitted. I

Unless the LPG conversion was declared to your insurer you have a very big problem. But anyway you won't get the market value of the car plus the cost of the conversion. You'll get the trade value of the car with the conversion, that won't be much more than ordinary market value of about £2500.
