What happens to the fuel in the tank of my Ford Mondeo which is being scrapped?

The clutch went on our Ford Mondeo today and we were towed back to our local garage. The quote for replacement was more than the car is worth, so we have decided not to proceed. The problem is, we had just filled up with petrol ten minutes before the clutch went and there is about £60 worth of fuel in it. What happens to the petrol if the car is sent for scrap value? Should we be asking for the money for the fuel on top of what we can get for the car?

The dismantler will drain the tank and either use or dispose of the fuel. I can't think of a legal way you can extract the fuel.
