Used SL350 purchased 4wks ago - SBC issues fault codeC2359

I purchased the above from a home based dealer some 5 weeks ago and have since covered less than 1K miles. It's a 2007 model and now has 49.6K miles with a full main dealer service history (last serviced April 2014 at 47.4K).
Having now had a diagnostic test (MB Star) with an independent MB specialist, I have been advised that the SBC pump needs replacing (fault code C2359) at a cost of c.£1300 - maid dealer c.£2000!
Given that I have just paid over £16K for this vehicle, is the seller responsible for rectifying this issue or is it just bad luck?

Thanks

This was the 2006/2007 upgraded model, making it much better than the original R230. The seller is technically liable. But current retail for an 07 is £17,481 with 68k miles, £18,706 with 50k miles, trade £15,468, so you got a good deal and should have some sympathy for the dealer. (SBC = Sensotronic Brake Control.)
