Can I fight my parking fine?

We recently received a ticket for parking on a beach pay & display car park. Prices were £1 for one hour and £1.30 for two hours. We paid for 2hrs using a £1 coin, a 20p and a 10p. I put the ticket straight on the window without checking it. When we returned under 2 hours later we had a parking ticket.

Upon checking the ticket the machine had printed a ticket for £1.25, although hadn't issued any change. So we have been charged for overstaying one hour. The company has rejected our claim. Where do we stand on this matter?

Unfortunately you can't prove that you put £1.30 in to the machine. The lesson to be learned from this is always to check the ticket you get. Don't assume it has been delivered correctly. (If you could find someone else who had the same experience on the same day, then you might have a case.)
