Parking ticket - should I pay or fight it?
Today I have received a parking charge. The car park in question allows up to two hours free parking and the signs displaying this are difficult to see on lamp posts. I overstayed by one hour and the car park has demanded a £100 parking charge to be made within 28 days, or a £60 charge if paid within 14 days. Should I launch an appeal to this company directly, ignore the letters, or take another form of action?

Strictly speaking under the law that came onto force in October 2012, you are liable, just as you would be if you have overstayed a roadside parking meter or a council carpark, though the law is different. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/private-parking-penalties/
