How can I stop my partner being such a nervous passenger?
My partner is very nervous when in a car, and frequently checks my speed against the speed limit, informs me when there are perfectly visible hazards ahead etc. Most of the time this is in a whispered monotone, but occasionally a shout. I find I get increasingly tense and have even been distracted at critical times from paying attention to my driving. I try and driving in a manner to keep her calm and explain lane changes, reasons for the speed I'm travelling at, keeping up with the flow of other vehicles on motorways and so on. None of which has any effect other than for the usual response: "I have no control". What should do other than refuse to drive with her in the car?
