I'm thinking of buying a Honda CR-V as a family car - is 70,000 miles for an 07-plate model excessive?
My Honda Civic was recently written off and so I'm looking for a new car. I have two kids and we are looking to get something a bit bigger as a replacement. I'd really like to stay with the Honda brand as I really enjoyed driving the Civic. I have around £10,500 to spend but could stretch to £11,000 at a push. Looking at the market, I can get a new shape CR-V (07 plate) with around 70,000 miles on it for this price. I really like the look of it and the size would suit us as a family very well. Is this worth it with that amount of mileage on the clock, as I was hoping to get something closer to 50,000 or are there other cars that I should be looking at instead? Also, is there any major service points with these vehicles that would make it costly with the higher mileage?

The CR-V is a very good family car but that mileage is high for an 07-plate. An average mileage for that age would be 30,000 miles. We'd suggest shopping around and trying to find something with lower miles on it. Obviously the older a car is the more likely repairs will be, but there's nothing about the CR-V that would be more expensive than any other car of the same age/mileage. Other cars to consider may be the Nissan X-Trail.
