Best diesel estate for £8000?

I am looking to buy an economical and reliable estate with good rear leg room, but only looking to spend up to £8000. I travel around 20,000 miles a year with a mixture of motorway, A & B roads and town driving.
Could you advise on what would be a good buy in this category and price range?
