My Scenic's interior light stayed one?
I left the Scenic and the interior light and boot light did not go off as they usually do. I checked the switch and could not switch it off at all. There was nothing wrong with any doors or door closing areas.
So all I could do was leave it and the battery is now dead. No point jump-starting until I rectify the fault.
What would make those lights stay on permanently, and where should I look to repair it?

The switch. But the simple answer is to remove the bulb from the socket, then the circuit cannot complete and there will be no drain.
