Xsara Picasso recurring turbo seal problems
I bought a seven year old Xsara Picasso from a Citroen dealer 16 months ago. The car has one year’s warranty and 60,000 miles on the clock. After six months the injectors had to be replaced (covered by warranty). Now the seals have gone again and need to be replaced. Could there be any permanent engine damage? If this has happened twice is it more likely to continue?
Have since read your recommendation to leave engine running for a minute before switching off but as I have to move between jobs every hour this could be difficult. Is it better to cut possible losses and change? If so what economical car would you recommend to fit 3 children plus car seats in the rear? I average 20,000 miles/year (motorway and around town).

Idling turbos is only necessary when the turbos are very hot, which they will be after a long ascent, after towing, or after running at constant speed on the motorway. Nothing really replaced the old Xsara Picasso as a full five seater with three proper seats in the back and an economical diesel except the 2nd generation Berlingo Multispace. The new C4 Picasso is a better car, but has moved upmarket and starts at £17,500.
