Should we pass our 10-year-old Honda Jazz to our granddaughter?
My wife and I own a 2003 Honda Jazz manual in which we driven about 50,000 miles without trouble. Our granddaughter will be old enough to drive in two years and we were planning to pass it on to her. In view of your comments about worn bearings under the heading of ‘Loud Jazz’, do you consider it a good idea or should we forget it? I am now 90 years old and still behind the wheel although not driving long distances. We would like to help our grandchild but would hate to pass on a load of trouble.

An early manual Jazz could have a transmission bearing problem and Honda has generally been very good in providing goodwill towards repairs. But two things need to be borne in mind. Apart from this known fault, the Jazz has been the one of most reliable cars in its class. And this one is 10 years old, so you can expect it to need some repairs and replacements at its age.
