Would you recommend the new Skoda Octavia model?
In 2004 or thereabouts, you spoke highly of the then new Skoda Octavia. I purchased a new Elegance 2.0 TDI DSG with ESP and Sat Nav in mid-2006. The car has now achieved 90,000 miles of totally trouble-free motoring, having been regularly serviced each 10,000 miles. I am considering acquiring the new completely updated version released in March of this year. Do you have any thoughts or comments on this new model or would you recommend alternatives?

The Octavia has not had a completely trouble-free record: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/skoda/octavia-2004/?...d but is better than the contemporary Golf. The new one tested here seems to be bigger and better, with some thoughtful and practical features: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/skoda/skoda-octavi.../. But there's no 5-7 year warranty, as you get from Toyota, Hyundai and KIA.

Saloon shape but actually a practical hatchback. Far superior interior quality than previous model.
