Can a Frenchman take legal action against me over a car I sold to him?

Last October a Frenchman bought my car as seen. It is now March and he is considering taking legal action against me relative to the condition of the car. Would this case be heard under English law or French please? And in which country would the case be dealt with?

If he bought it from you in the UK then the deal is subject to UK law. And, unless the car was sold roadworthy when it was unroadworthy, UK law does not support any claim over a private transaction like this.
