Faulty insurance repairs after accident - what should I do?

My wife's car was hit by another vehicle reversing out of a parking bay. The impact was on the front wing and driver’s door. Our insurers had the repairs carried out and claimed the costs from the third parties insurers but several months on, my wife opened the door and it kept on going past its stop and dropped slightly. One of the main hinges had broken.

The insurance company are now saying that it is not related to the accident, claiming wear and tear, and won't pay for the repairs. Do we have any comeback? It is hard to believe this is a wear and tear item as it was directly where the impact was.

Tell your insurer that if it does not fix the car properly then you will have it fixed properly and will claim the cost back from the insurer via www.moneyclaim.go.uk if necessary
