Sporty hatchback for a 21 year old - what do you recommend?
I'm 21 and recently got myself a good steady job, with a decent income. Having driven my parents' Fiat Panda for the last three years, I'm looking to get myself a second hand car in the £5000 bracket. I'm after something fairly powerful and something that a 21 year old would like to be seen in. I have been looking at Audi A3/BMW 116/Volkswagen Golf. What do you recommend I buy?

With all the cars on your list you're paying between 20 and 40 per cent for status and the rest for the car. Your problem will be insurance because unless you go for a low power version your premiums will be unaffordable. And low power versions of these cars are no fun at all.
