Failed clutch - garage denies liability

My local garage fitted some new clutch parts to my Volkswagen Passat. However, after just four months, the clutch failed. The garage has told me it’s a warranty issue with the parts supplier and denies any liability, but I’m pretty sure they’re liable. Can you help?
