Should the dealer replace my clutch FOC?

I had a complete burn out of the clutch on my 2013 Volkswagen Golf manual at 40,000 miles. Volkswagen are refusing to cover it under the warranty because they could not identify a manufacturing fault. I have argued that the clutch should last longer. Does the Golf have a history of clutch faults?

VAG only warrants its clutches for six months because of the potential for a driver to destroy it. If you think there was a fault then you have to prove it. May be a problem with the dual mass flywheel. Could be that the clutch slave cylinder failed.
