Audi A5 clutch failure - can I keep the old part?
My Audi A5 2.0 TDI is still under warranty and is suffering problems. The garage found suspected clutch slip and at a total cost to myself (£2187) have replaced it. The car did not show usual signs of clutch slip and it was difficult to diagnose.
As a clutch is classed as wear and tear it was not covered by the warranty, despite the fact the car has only 50,000 miles of which the majority are from motorway use. The car is not yet three years old and is still under warranty. They have refused to help in any way.
As a final kick in the teeth they called me back to say I could not keep my old clutch unless I paid £70, I do not understand why I have to pay for a part that belongs to me?
Where do I stand on the overall issue and the part about paying to keep the old clutch?

Clutches and Dual Mass Flywheels are replaced on an exchange basis. The old one goers back and the usable parts are recycled. But dealers use this to prevent customers from getting their old parts back to be independently examined. If it was the dual mass flywheel and not the clutch at fault, then I think Audi would have been liable.
