What's the best diesel for £10,000?
I'm about to change jobs and give up my Volkswagen Passat 1.6 TDI Highline estate. I will need to purchase a car and will be doing circa 35,000 miles per year. I have a budget of around £10,000 and have found a lot of 2005 Audi A4s with 40,000 miles on the clock for that money. I’ve also found the new shape Hyundai I30, with the blue engines and around 12,000-15,000 miles. What do you suggest I buy?

Basically, go for the cheapest lowest mileage diesel you can get for £10,000 that can last the distance. No point in paying extra for the status of an Audi A4 when any value of that will be lost by your mileage on disposal. So the Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI should be the better bet. Change the oil and filter every 10,000 miles to help it last the distance.

I have a budget of about £12k and am torn between buying a used Seat Leon 1.6 TDI SE and the Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI. I would use it to travel about 20,000 miles a year so must have a diesel. What do you suggest?
