What's the most reliable and cheapest car I could buy for £1500?

I have been spoilt and been able to own mostly new cars in my motoring life. However, due to present circumstances, I require to purchase the best possible car, ie the most reliable, cheapest to run and insure for £1500. Could you point me in the right direction I have been looking at V, W and 51-plate Micras and Skoda Fabias. Are these any good? Could you make any other suggestions?

Both the Micra and Fabia are both reliable and cheap to run cars, although as with any used car, go for the lowest mileage example you can. Fortunately, small cars like this rarely do long distances so you should have plenty of choice. Another model to consider is the Toyota Yaris which is very reliable and well built.
