Faulty Renault Kangoo - should I be fixed under dealer warranty?
My elderly father bought a 2004 Renault Kangoo three months ago from a dealer. As part of the deal, he got three months warranty, but has had lots of problems with the car.
Recently, the airbag light and SERV icon have been coming on intermittently. The garage has looked at the car but was unable to trace the fault. They have attempted to charge him £64.80 for this "inspection".
Our questions are as follows -
1. Is he liable for the cost of this inspection, as the car was purchased with a three month in-house warranty?
2. Although this appears to be an intermittent fault, which we now know to be a common problem with this type of vehicle, should the garage take back the car and reimburse him fully on the grounds that the vehicle is not fit for purpose as it gives false information and is therefore potentially unsafe and would not pass the MoT if the airbag icon were to illuminate during the test.

1. Absolutely not.
2. Depends what he paid. Probably a loose wire. www.airbagman.co.uk can probably fix it. Tell the dealer that if he does not fix it perfectly you will call in airbagman and use the small claims track to sue him for the cost: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
