Winter Wheels - Can I fit different tyre size on existing wheels?
I've just replaced my 2010 BMW 320i Touring with the identical but new 2013 model. I have a BMW supplied set of wheels/winter tyres for my old car but I cannot use these on the new model because the tyre size has changed and is now 225/50 R17 while my old car was 225/45 R17.
Given the width of the tyres is identical and the diameter of the alloys also appears to be identical when I measure it, can I fit a new set of 225/50 R17 winter tyres to my "old" set of alloy wheels or will I need to invest in a new set of tyres and alloys?

I doubt that small difference in size would make much difference. Is the dealer saying it would upset the ESP and steering angle sensor? Fitting the slightly smaller diameter tyres would make the speedo over-read slightly more than it does already.
