Flat spot at 2000rpm in my Honda FR-V?
I wondered if you may be able to help me with a problem I have on my 56 plate 2.0-litre petrol Honda FRV. It has a very odd flat spot which manifests its self at about 2000rpm and again at about 3000rpm.
If the acceleration is very gradual then there is an obvious flat spot but sometimes it feels as if the engine has cut, just for a fraction of a second. It also does not feel as if it is running happily between 2 and 3000 when driving on town roads.
The other possible manifestation is on the over run where it seems very sensitive. When you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal the engine seems to 'step down' quite suddenly.

Well it could be a number of things.
The first thing to check is the engine oil level as if this is low will effect the VVT (variable valve timing)
After thatvit could be one of the following
1.Fuel filter
2.EGR solenoid (exhaust gas)
3.EGR valve position sensor
4.MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure)
5.IAT sensor (Intake air temp)
6.ECT sensor (engine coolant temp)
7.TP sensor (throttle position)
8.HO2S ( Lamda sensor)
9.Injectors
As you can see quite a long list, therefore it may be prudent to find a good quality garage that can carry out a diagnostic check and they should then identify the problem by fault code (i.e P ---- 4 numbers)
