Why did you recommend a BMW X5 over a BMW X3?

I am gobsmacked at your recommendation in response to the enquiry of CA from Bourne End, owners of a BMW X5. Have you actually sat in and driven, say 200 miles in your recommended vehicles? If you had said go for the smaller (relatively) BMW X3 2.0d then you would have been on the same vehicle expectation wavelength as CA. From my own experience of X5 and X3 models the new X3 2.0d has so much more to offer than the X5 and your recommendations. Comfort absolutely positive, fuel economy superb (440 mile round trip has given me 48mpg) and cheap road tax.

Yes I have. I've also done 1000 miles in an F25 X3 2.0d. I agree the F25 X3 makes more sense than a current X5 or X6, but he needed a vehicle for towing "our large caravan". And the vehicles I suggested are more powerful and better towers with higher towing weights than the X3. By the way, I'm averaging 64mpg in an F30 320dED with the same engine as your X3.
