Should I buy another Audi or a KIA to replace my A6?

I have a 2003 Audi A6 which has served us well for the last eight years. I am now considering replacing it with a 2010/2011 2-litre A6 Avant SE. I would value your comments on its suitability for mixed long and short distance driving of approximately 10,000 miles per year, or would I be better off considering something like a KIA Sorento with its extended warranty?

The equivalent of an A6 would be a KIA Optima, not a Sorento. The Optima 1.7-litre diesel is an excellent car. We recently tested it against seven competitors in the class and it came out a surprise winner, beating even the Mondeo. Rear legroom is as good as a Skoda Superb.

But even better than that is the stunning new Mazda 6 Skyactiv, a completely new car with new body, new suspension, and super-efficient new petrol and diesel engines and manual and automatic transmissions. The 150PS diesel automatic emits only 129g/km CO2, the lowest for this class of automatic car. The manual emits less than 110g/km so costs only £20 a year to tax.
